Five best triangle patchwork pictures.

Future, one of my favourite publishing houses, are launching a new magazine, Love Quilting (ooh, here’s a sampler). It’s edited by the marvellous Jen Fox Proverbs.

A cracking excuse to post some of my favourite shape in patchwork form.

A new craft(ish) magazine. Oooh!

the Simple things cover

Tonight I will be going to the launch party of The Simple Things, a new offering from Future Magazines and sister title to craft mag Mollie Makes. It looks nice, right?

In their own words, it’s ‘a gorgeous blend of interiors, gardening, cookery, lifestyle and crafts, and celebrates the things that matter most.’

The One Where I Crafted For The Daily Mail

I now write a weekly-ish how-to column for Femail, the Daily Mail’s Thursday features section. Wanna give your lampshade a make over? Find the instructions here. What about a fabric-covered notebook? That’ll be here.

In other ‘things that I have done’ news, the lovely people at Frankly, Folksy’s online magazine, asked me to choose my favourite bits and bobs on the site – I went for my favourite handmade jewellery from Folksy sellers.

Spotted! Craft invite in the Elle Decor editorial.

I love Michelle Ogundehin’s editorial page in interiors mag Elle Deco, it’s so pretty. But I love it even more when it features the press invite from the Power of Making exhibition, currently on at the V&A and hosted in association with the Craft Council.

I LOVE the Home Shopping Spy blog.

Reason #1

They’ve introduced me to Louise Body’s paper tiles. I would like some very much, please.

Reason #2

Since I wrote this piece for the Guardian on big players copying small-time designers, I realised how big the issue is. So it’s nice to see a big blog like HSS highlight another potential copycat, this time by BHS …

Today I got two lovely things through the post.

A copy of the first edition of Mollie Makes, the new craft mag from Future. It’s very exciting, and I’m looking forward to seeing it on the shelves.

And, a copy of new craft book, Everything Alice, which – yes – is all about Alice in Wonderland. It’s published by the wonderful Quadrille, one of my favourite publishers for good quality craft books. We’ve got one of the authors, Hannah Read-Baldrey, in the July issue of Psychologies (which, in case you didn’t know, is my Real Life job).

She’s right, this really is the best chair in the world.

Pip from Meet Me At Mike’s always comes up with the most beautiful pictures.

The Indy redeem themselves by WRITING ABOUT TAXIDERMY.

After the fiasco with the dreadful Linda Barker piece, I’m pleased to say I’m now no longer mad at the Independent. BECAUSE THEY WROTE ABOUT TAXIDERMY.

Not a craft I’ve tried, but y’know, one day maybe.
