#eattheworld part 1: Peru

Five friends.
One decision to see each other more and take advantage of London’s amazing culinary offerings.
The result? #eattheworld

#eattheworld part one went a bit like this:

The chooser: Aidan, who blogs about wine at aidanhasawine.wordpress.com
The country: Peru
The restaurant: Tierra Peru on Essex Road on Islington
The drinks: Cusquena beer, Pisco Sours, Picasso wine, shots of coco leaf liquor
The food: skewered ox heart, deep fried pastry fingers, raw fish marinated in green lime juice, creamy seafood stew, quinoa risotto, sweet potato, marinated pork and chicken
The verdict: delish
The one thing you should know: Peruvians cook with massive corn kernels

Next month’s chooser? Jonny, my boyf

In true food blogging form, here’s my shakily-taken, Instagram-style, on-an-angle shots of the night.

Sometimes it’s OK to knit a cupcake

If you fancy some charity-based crafting this weekend, you could 1. Knit a hat for Mungos (who help people without homes). 2. Organise a Pink Friday event for Breast Cancer Care and knit some awesome cup cakes, like this lady did, above … (For patterns, try Knitting by the Sea, My Lizzie Jane, any one on this massive list from Squidoo or head over to Ravelry for what can only be described as a shit load of them)

The Leveson enquiry, in cake form

God bless Miss Cakehead. The world is a better place because of her and her cake, especially these Leveson enquiry-themed ones.

Making for Good.

Mencap’s newly launched website, Make With Me, is rather nice. Barley Massey of Fabrications (an awesome crafter indeed) let me know about the site because she’s contributed a recipe, called United Gingerbread People Bunting, which is available as a free download.

Everyone loves massive handmade noodles. Right?

‘A group of keen cooks in China have set a new Guinness World Record for making the longest handmade noodle and it’s over a mile long.’ (via the Metro)

I work with some lovely people.

It was my birthday yesterday, and they gave me lots of nice stuff, and features editor Anita made me this cake.
