Material World: the book launch

Oh what a wonderful night I had on Wednesday. Friends, family, crafters, journos, colleagues all met at Homemade London to celebrate the launch of my new book, Material World: The Modern Craft Bible.

What a lovely Christmas window.

Shoes from the book, worn by me..

We made some embroidered cards.

People read some books.

I can’t say thank you enough to Nicola of Homemade London, who hosted us for the night. Her place was the PERFECT place for a party and she was the most delightful person to spend an evening with. You guys MUST go and hang out there, whether you’re after a hen party, a workshop or a sewing machine for an hour or two. And to my parents, who absolutely bossed it – they made cakes, helped me set up, spent the evening being delighted and then cleared everything up because I was too high on cloud nine to do anything. Thanks guys, you are AWESOME.

And another massive thank you to three of my favourite magazines, who provided all the guests with free copies: Mollie Makes, The Simple Things and Company. These three mags are DEDICATED to craft, they show it for what it is today – awesome, contemporary and not naff in anyway. You need them in your life.

Finally, a last hurrah for Merchant and Mills (aka the world’s most beautiful notions) and Liberty (aka the world’s most beautiful fabrics). Both companies provided us with prizes, for the person who took the best photo of the evening and tweeted it to @homemadelondon.

The winner? It has to be this one, right? Fiona Barrows, you’ll get your prize the next time we meet. That tash is fit.
