The one with the knitted Andy Warhol and the embroidered Lady Gaga.

I have spent most of today at the Stitch and Craft show. Here are my favourite pictures of the day:

1. Snippets from the Foundling Museum’s ‘Threads of Feeling’ exhibition.
2&3. Two pieces from the uber- brilliant exhibition of famous knitted artworks, by Newcastle-based knitters The Materialistics.
4. Yarn. Lovely, colourful yarn.
5. Loani Prior’s Carmen Miranda-inspired tea cozy.
6&9. Gaga and other stuff, stitched, and the new-to-2011 Mr X Stitch stand. Nothing to buy, just stuff to look at.

  1. I bought some of the hoopla yarn at the last craft fair I went to at Sandown Racecourse a few months back, I found it hurt my fingers to work with though.

  2. Hi… maybe you didn’t get Hoopla with stretch? It IS hard to knit with the Hoopla Yarns that don’t have any element of stretch… best leave those to the rug makers….Look for Hoopla Yarns with medium to high stretch. This isn’t usually marked on the yarn, but online websites should be giving you that information. Hope this helps 🙂
