The boy done good.

He bought me three huge hardback craft reference books for Christmas. My favourite: Martha Stewart’s
Encyclopaedia of Craft. Don’t be put off by the naff soap image on the front – the rest of it is awesome.

I am out of the office.

Normal Make And Do With Perri service will resume after I’ve eaten lots of mince pies. Have a smashing Christmas.

The night I made chocolate.

Chocolate martinis, chocolate bars, chocolate truffles… After this evening with Green and Blacks I’m not eating chocolate until, ooh, sometime next week.

My gran’s awesome quilt.

She died when I was about 11, but she was an uber-crafter. And since I move into my new house this week with the boyfriend, my mum wondered if I wanted it. Erm, yes please! Look how sweet it is.

“But these offerings are poor imitations of the original product. They are machine-made garments, often mass-produced in China. They bear no relation to the masterpieces Mary produces.”

The Daily Mail says something good about craft, and this Fair Isle business.

But had a comment from Angela Wiseman from Fair Isle on my blog yesterday. Take a look. She commented on the Mail piece, disagreeing with some of the quotes. Take a look there, too (she’s the top comment).

“I spent my last bit of money on a pink metallic crochet bikini and some high heels.”

Oh Jerry Hall, how we love you for choosing pink crochet.

Last year I met Lida at the V&A, and she told me about her forthcoming book …

… and here is it, The First To Know.

And there’s a chunk on the rise of knitting too – take a butchers at the Cool Knitting video here.
